News - New season, New Look
When the grass needs mowing and the flowers need planting Starting Point has all the answers. Each year we recruit the temporary grounds workforce for Walsall Council’s Street Pride. As each new year starts we at Starting Point begin our search for grounds operatives to join our temporary grounds team, responsible for the grass, flower beds, trees, toilets, litter and Walsall’s famous markets.
Street Pride works towards making Walsall green and clean for its residents and visitors. The people who work for them, amongst others, are the face of Walsall Council. They are out there, day in, day out, in the community, working to make Walsall a nice place to be. Every worker is important, every worker is there to make a difference and every worker is a representative of the Local Authority.
The well being of our workers is very important to us and you can well imagine the potential for accidents when working as a grounds operative. As well as undergoing an interview and reference checks all potential operatives are required to attend our Grounds Induction Day before they start work.
Our induction day is delivered in partnership with Street Pride and covers all aspects of being a Grounds Operative for Walsall Council from Health and Safety to Equal Opportunities. This year we introduced our new induction booklet to support our induction. Designed in partnership with Street Pride the booklet and our induction day give the workers all the information they need to know about Street Pride, their policies, procedures and practices, before they start work.
